Finding Freedom

I’m Joshua. I’m not like many other therapists out there. You might be wondering what makes me different? Well, to understand that, let me share a quick story about my journey to becoming a therapist.

In my early career, I first became a firefighter serving two different municipalities in Solano County. After an injury, I found my way into the fire prevention field. I loved it and worked in it for over 15 years. I learned how to help and care for people in the worst days of their lives. As a fire inspector, I learned how to protect people and truly seek out the needs of the community through outreach and community risk reduction programs. The skills I developed in those seasons taught me to value people and the importance of relationships.

When the pandemic struck in 2020, I noticed that there became even more of a pervasive need in the mental health field. People were suffering mentally and emotionally and I knew it was time to make a change and become part of the solution. I started back on the path of education, to school to pursue a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy to equip me for this very task and never looked back. Being a recipient myself of both therapy and EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to heal from past trauma and hurts, I can tell you that I deeply believe in it. I have learned that there is hope for a positive change, no matter what you may have walked through up until this very day.

I have seen clients make significant breakthroughs in their lives as a result of therapy. Which is why I do what I do today.
